Hey there! I'm Julie. I am a certified teacher in Ontario and British Columbia and the founder of Diamond Teachers Group.
I founded DTG in 2011, originally as Teachers to Go, with a simple belief: every student deserves to feel capable, understood, and confident in their learning.
As a teacher, I saw firsthand that every student learns differently. I also saw how much can change when a student has the right teacher in their corner, someone who takes the time to get to know them, understand how they learn best, build on their strengths, and support them through challenges. When students feel seen, supported, and empowered, their confidence grows, and they become more willing to take risks, ask questions, and believe in what they can achieve.
That belief is at the heart of why I founded Diamond Teachers Group.
Today, Diamond Teachers Group is a Canadian teacher-only online tutoring company, connecting students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 with provincially certified teachers for personalized, live 1:1 tutoring. We support students across a wide range of grades, subjects, learning needs, and abilities.
What makes DTG different?
We start with the student, not the subject.
Before we focus on what needs to be learned, we take the time to get to know the learner. What are their interests? What are they finding challenging? What comes naturally to them? What makes them feel confident? Creating a supportive environment where students feel seen, heard, and valued gives them the confidence to ask questions, make mistakes, and keep trying.
We believe tutoring should be personalized and purposeful.
Every student deserves a learning plan that reflects their individual needs and goals. Through our Success Strategy, we create a personalized “report card” and involve students in setting meaningful goals for their learning. This gives students a voice in the process and helps them develop ownership, responsibility, and confidence in their education.
We believe learning should feel relevant, engaging, and connected to real life.
Our teachers bring lessons to life by connecting curriculum to students' interests, experiences, and the world around them. Through live, interactive 1:1 online lessons, teachers can adapt their approach in the moment, provide immediate feedback, and use different strategies and tools to help each learner engage with the material.
We believe great tutoring is about more than improving a mark.
It's about helping students become more confident, empowered, independent learners who know how to ask for help, advocate for themselves, and recognize their own strengths.
That's what I set out to build when I founded DTG, and it's what continues to guide us today.
